PetersonFredrick Fredrick Alvin Peterson Fredrick Alvin Peterson, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. He was born June 23, 1920 in Sheboygan, WI, a son of the late Oscar and Minnie Sievers Peterson. He was married to Angelita Maria Cuesy Peterson who preceded him in death. In addition to his parents and his wife he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Peterson and a sister, Marion Woods. Mr. Peterson is survived by a daughter, Claudia Peterson Pingley and husband Kenneth of Huttonsville, WV; a son, Fredrick A. Peterson of Las Vegas, NV; a grandson Zachary Pingley of Huttonsville and two granddaughters, Erika and Emily Pingley of Huttonsville. Of Mr. Petersons many accomplishments he authored or co-authored six books, published forty articles in different publications, was awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree, served in the US Army during WWII and was associated with WV Wesleyan College for over forty years as a professor of Archaeology and Anthropology which were his passion. Friends will be received Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 12 to 2 PM at Wesley Chapel on the Campus of WV Wesleyan College, with a service to follow at 2 PM with David Stuart officiating. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters #5 and #36 will conduct Military Honors at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to WV Wesleyan in memory of Dr. Peterson to be dedicated to Anthropology or Archaeology Degree students.
