Obituary of Jerry Linn Oldaker

Jerry Linn Oldaker, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born May 7, 1950, in Lewis County, WV, a son of the late Arnold and Eugenia McCartney Oldaker. On November 3, 1979, he married Brenda L. Helmick of Buckhannon, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Christopher T. Oldaker and Megan A. Bailey; six grandchildren, Cody A. and Colin W. Bailey and Taegan, Connor, Lucas, and Makenna Oldaker; two sisters; two brothers; several nieces and nephews and his best friend, his beagle Pippa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister. Mr. Oldaker graduated from Lewis County High School in 1968. He served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam and throughout his military career served in Germany and Alaska. Jerry worked in the WVWC postal office for 34 years. He attended Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon and in his free time, he loved watching sports, NASCAR, movies, and spending time with his grandkids. Friends will be received Monday, January 27, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the graveside.
