I have mixed feelings about Miss Dorthy's passing. I will miss her greatly, but also know i will see her soon in Heaven. She was a very dear friend who I would often call "Mom." She was one of the first who warmly greeted me on my first visit to Calvary Independent Baptist Church in September 2005. Her loving influence permeated the congregation and helped make it the loving congregation it remains today. If the doors of the church was open, you rest assured Dorthy would be there. She was a faithful member of my Adult Sunday School Class. She gave to God generously from her finances and her heart. Miss Dorthy was an outstanding cook and baker!! Her contributions to our Thursday night Fellowship Dinners gave me just another reason for wanting to be there. Dorthy grew up near where I also grew up, in rural Barbpur County. She would frequently share stories of her youth there, how poor her family was, and how her and her siblings walked foe miles every Sunday to attend a country church in the mountains. One oft-repeated story was the Great Tornado of 1943 that struck Meadowville, killing many, destroying her family home...while God graciously saved her own family. I am blessed to have had Dorthy as a role model, inspiration, and beloved friend. "Thank you Lord for the blessing she has been to me and many others." "God speed Dorthy. I will see you again soon!"
