Bob & his brothers & sisters were double-first cousins with my sister Sharon & me; we grew up together at Beans Mill & thoroughly enjoyed it. Bob inherited a lot of admirable traits from his mom: a positive, up-beat spirit in the face of tremendous, long-lasting difficulties; kindness; generosity; big-heartedness; etc. When he was terribly injured in Vietnam & almost died -once he was back in the States in the hospital- never did know how she did it, but somehow his mom managed to go to him. Why she went was simple & easy to understand -he was one of her kids & she loved him dearly as she did all of them. Will always love & admire her for that -& for many other reasons as well. Over the years, it was always a joy to see Bob & the rest of his family when we went to WV. Am thankful for the good care he had & for him being made to feel part of a family; know that meant a lot to him as it did to us who loved him & cared for his well-being. It was sad to see him grow increasingly disabled over the years, but he always kept the same great spirit! As he aged, he became more spiritual -as his mom had always been- & I know she would have been proud of him & thankful for that. If the world had more souls like Bob in it, it would be a better place for all of us. Love you Bob & will miss you -until we meet again. God speed.

Bobbie was my cousin. From the time we were little I loved him dearly. Years past and I only got to see him occasionally but when we did get to see him it was like it was yesterday.. he made you feel comfortable and loved. Even tho we were far apart we remained close at heart. I rembrr my brother Bob telling me that he went to the hospital to see Bobbie when he came home from Vietnam. He said he didn’t recognize him from all his battle wounds. He kept up his spirit in disspite of it all. I will forever remember him for his humor, laughter and love for Jesus. No more battles to fight cous. You are cured now. Thank you Lisa for being so generous and I love your face.

My Uncle was one of the strongest men I ever knew. He endured and overcame so much in his life. He and my other Uncle's are the reason I chose to enlist and serve my country. No matter the adversity he faced life with a smile, and brought a smile to the faces of everyone he came in contact with. I will miss you Uncle Bobbie, rest easy Marine you've earned it.

Bob came into my life when I was a little girl. He would quickly make an impact on my heart that would last a lifetime. He loved my family as if we were his own. Bob was a hero. Bob was my hero. He served his country in the Vietnam War earning a Purple Heart along with several other honorable medals. He would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He was a great man. I will cherish the memories I have as long as I live.

Bobbie loved his family and friends so much. My favorite memories are taking him to pritt mountain for a few frosty mug red eyes and just hanging out. He treated me and my girls as if we were his family too and I will cherish my memories for all of my days. Lisa, thank you for letting me be a part of his life. I love you!

Bob started his life as part of our family clan in the river valley of Beans Mill. We lived there with our parents and grandparents and were friends as well as family. We had wonderful summer days climbing rocks, swimming, fishing, exploring, etc. and winter ones riding skippers in the snow or trying to make snow/ice igloos. We attended the same school at Cutright on the hilltop. We did not have much but we had each other. Growing older meant moving to Buckhannon and Bob joined the Marines, served in Vietnam and was terribly wounded. In spite of this he always seemed to have a positive outlook and was generous. He devoted many hours to caring for my son when he would visit WV in the summers and they were busy chasing around in Buckhannon. Bob did live several places but invested his heart with Lisa when he moved to live in her apartment. He cared a lot for Lisa and her family and they accepted him into their fold. They provided the necessary care or got it from the VA for him. He became more isolated with disabilities but they would bring him to a birthday party or a family reunion with us. Bob did the best he could given his health issues. You had to admire his tenacity. While he was not in our daily lives, he was not forgottten. He will be remembered with fondness, his sense of humor and generosity of spirit. I visited him mostly in mental travels. God bless and keep him.

Bob was a very caring man and a proud veteran. He once gave me money and asked that I purchase flags for the Buckhannon cemetery. I gave the money to the VFW and they purchased the flags. Sadly missed!
