Obituary of Leona Christine Janice Wood

Leona Christine Janice Wood, age 73, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at her home. She was born October 7, 1949, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, daughter of the late Allen and Connie Kampela Walter. On December 9, 1968, she married Fred “Butch” Wood who preceded her in death on July 4, 2010. She is survived by two sons, Stanley Wood and Matthew Wood and wife Melissa all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Rosemarie Sinclair and husband Bryan “Hoss” and Lisa George and husband Carl all of Buckhannon; grandchildren, Skyler, Valerie and Brittney Wood, Katie Emmanuel, Alexis Claus, Brandon Wood, Khristian and Dakota Price and Wade and Emily Sinclair; great-grandchildren, Jenikah and Issabella Miller, Daniel, Remy and Cody Clause, AJ Emmanuel, Grayson Sinclair, Ameliyia Shannon and two more on the way; two brothers, Robert Walter of Welland, Canada and Willie Walter and wife Rosemary of Longlac, Canada; one niece, Angela Gallant; one nephew, Ken Walter and two sisters-in-law, Madeline Russell and Judy Heavner. Mrs. Wood was a caregiver to many people throughout the community over the years. She was loved by all who crossed her path and an active member in her church. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Faith Tabernacle Church. A funeral service will be held 1 PM at the church with Pastor Bryan Sinclair officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery in Philippi, WV.
