Obituary of Alice Marie Foglesong

Alice was born and grew up in Danville, West Virginia. She attended Danville Grade School and graduated from Scott High School in 1956. She attended WVU, received a bachelor’s degree from University of New Mexico, and a master’s degree from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College). She taught hard of hearing and deaf children for Boone County Schools. She was also a substitute teacher for both Boone County and Upshur County Schools. She was a lifelong member and supporter of 4-H, attending meetings before she was old enough to join. She worked 4-H camps, went to National Club Congress, and was a West Virginia 4-H All Star. She was an active member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, WV for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Wendell Nelson and Mona Susan Keener Nelson and her husbands, William Arthur Ervine and Howard L. Foglesong. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Nelson Browning (husband Jim), nephews Tim Browning, and Jeff Browning, her daughter, Walda Susan Ervine Henson (husband Burley), son, Leigh Hampton Ervine (wife Lisa Meador-Ervine), step-daughter Cindy Rock (husband Timothy). Grandchildren: Jason Rock, Jared Rock, Justin Rock, Rebekah Noelle Ervine, and David William Hampton Ervine. The family wishes to thank all the care givers and providers who helped her stay independent for so long. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
