When I think of Alice I think of the summer of 1945. Our family stayed with the Nelson’s while the coal company daddy worked for looked for us a house in the coal camp at Prenter. That was when Alice, Karen and I became fast friends and partners in “crime.” We shared many childhood adventures together, some remembered, many forgotten. It’s the good times Alice, Karen and I shared that will always be in my memory. Alice, thanks for the memories. With love, “Little Archie “

Alice sang in the Chapel Hill UMC Chancel Choir. On special occasions she did sign language during songs. Her energy, enthusiasm, and joy was contagious to all those who knew her. Her daffodils were beautiful and just like their beauty, Alice spread beauty to all those around her. She loved life and was a role model for us all - that no matter what to keep going! We miss you Alice and will always remember you. May God bless your entire family during this time as they celebrate your life and legacy.

Alice and my brother were "best buds" and I was an an annoying little "tag along". She was a beautiful little girl with flaxen hair and high cheekbones looking like a "Dresden Doll. She was a kind and gentle girl with a book in hand at all times. I asked my mother about her reading habits and she told me that Aunt Mona, Libby Jane, and Alice were all geniuses which formed my picture of what a genius looked like forever more. Alice will be missed greatly by all of us and especially by Walda Susan and Leigh Hampton.
Rest forever in Peace dear Alice.
With much love,
Karen H.
