I was lucky to call David a friend. Many know how dedicated he was to his business as a New York Life agent, his church, and other community programs. His success as a NYL agent, outperforming even those in big cities, isn't a surprise to me. Dave was a guy you could trust, who knew his business and how to use that to help you. A man of character that simply doesn't come along very often.
I knew another side of David that isn't as well known. David loved cars. I helped him restore his '64 Mustang, helped fix up Bills Ford pickup, and the Model A. We were active in some car shows together. He drove that Mustang daily for years. His good friend Carl Martin had a Jeep Cherokee with a bigger engine than the one David had. So...we tore the engine down and installed some parts to make more power. Done at my house so Carl would not find out. David said the look on Carls face was priceless when he went by him!
I also knew another amazing thing about David. How many knew he was an elite Pool player? I don't mean on the local level, but indeed could have been world famous. At the time, Minnesota Fats was known as one of the best....David won that match. I am fortunate to have seen David play some serious matches. Using a custom 21 oz Muecci cue stick with no decoration on it. Because that wasn't Davids style. But that wasn't the direction David wanted to go in life. He made the right choice there too. While I left Buckhannon in 1998, I have never forgotten my friend. Thank you David, you were more of an influence on me than you ever knew.

I have a hole in my heart after learning of the death of my older brother David. I have fond memories of his being a great big brother when I was a little girl. He was a great protector and never seemed to mind that I was always his handicap in every event in which the three of us children participated. David took that lot in life in stride with grace.
