Lester “Bud” Warner
Lester “Bud” Warner, age 91, of The Villages, FL, died Friday, March 2, 2018. He was born June 24, 1926, in Teter, WV, a son of the late Raymond and Hattie Furr Warner. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy Phillips Dye. Also surviving is one brother, Raymond Warner, Jr. of Ohio; three step-children, Ruth Dye of Fairmont, WV, Jack Dye of Raleigh, NC and John Dye of The Villages; three grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; five step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melody Warner Vandervort; step-daughter, Kathryn Dye Findle; two brothers, Richard and William Warner and two sisters, Katherine Warner Crites and Juanita Warner Bennett. Mr. Warner served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII in China. He was a former member of the VFW Post 3663 in Buckhannon and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 347 in FL. Mr. Warner was a Magistrate of Upshur County, WV, a former member of the Buckhannon Lions Club and a Methodist by faith. He was a resident of Silver Lake in The Villages for 28 years where he served as a charter member and past President of the WV Club. Mr. Warner and his wife, Dotty, loved traveling across the U.S. and Canada in his motorhome. He was also active in forming several country bands and he loved to entertain. Friends will be received for a Memorial Gathering Friday, July 6, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
