Obituary of Thomas Patrick Keenan

Thomas Patrick Keenan, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his home in French Creek, WV with family at his side. He was born July 27, 1931 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Thomas Patrick and Alice Saas Keenan. He is survived by one daughter, Cassandra Keenan of Gainesville, FL; three sons, Thomas P. Keenan, III and wife Janiene Pape of Titusville, FL, Tracy Keenan and wife Kimberly of Land O’Lakes, FL and Daniel S. Keenan of Titusville and two grandsons, Max Keenan of Land O’Lakes and Austin Keenan of Philippi, WV. Mr. Keenan graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1949 and Glenville State College with a B.S. in Math in 1953. Tom served as a Captain in the USAF. He trained at the University of Washington as a Meteorologist, serving in Korea. He learned Missile Guidance at AC Spark Plug, working on the Thor and Titan Missile Guidance Systems. In 1964 he moved to FL to work for NASA. At Kennedy Space Center he was Lead Guidance and Control Engineer on four, Gemini and Apollo Programs. Then he worked on the Spacelab, Space Shuttle Orbiter and Space Station. Mr. Keenan, a true patriot, used his passion in service to his country. His hobbies included a love of history including genealogy, hunting and enjoying the beauty of West Virginia. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 at 2 PM at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
