Funeral Service Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 2 PM Funeral Home Burial Heavner Cemetery Howard Jonathan Dowell Howard Jonathan Dowell, age 93 of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. He was born September 22, 1918 in Buckhannon a son of the late William Lewis and Bessie Jane Corathers Dowell. On November 23, 1946 he married Geneva Rebecca Hinzman who preceded him in death on May 29, 1987. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four brothers William Myers Page Chrisman, Robert James and Roy Keith Dowell; two sisters, Nora Virginia Smith and Dorothy Lee Sowder. Mr. Dowell is survived by one sister Laura Katherine Goldsmith and husband Jack of Greenwood, WV; two sister-in-law Mary Lou Dowell of Buckhannon and Evelyn Dowell and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Dowell worked in the maintenance department for the Upshur Co. Board of Education. He was a life member of the Buckhannon VFW Post #3663 and the Buckhannon Moose Lodge #598. Friends will be received Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon VFW Post #3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 and #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
