untitled1 Visitation Friday, October 8, 2010 5-9 PM Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Funeral Service Saturday, October 9, 2010 10 AM Funeral Home Burial Hampton Cemetery Betty Lee Warner Hyre Dye Mrs. Betty Lee Warner Hyre Dye passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday October 6, 2010 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born May 18, 1931 in Lewis County, she was the daughter of the late Albert Ray Sr. and Irene Smith Warner. On September 2, 1955 she married John R. Hyre who preceded her in death on November 17, 1986. Betty remarried June 15, 1999 to Glenn T. Dye. Betty graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School in 1949 and was the Valedictorian of the Tennerton Branch. She made a career as a lifetime restaurant owner. In 1960 she and John opened the Stardust Drive-in which they operated until 1979. In 1983 they decided to open Western Steer Family Steakhouse which later changed to Lone Steer. She was the proud recipient of the Entreprenuer of the Year award for 2007. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, tending a variety of flowers, and bird watching. She also enjoyed RV camping and traveling, and loved working puzzles. Surviving are spouse Glenn T. Dye of Buckhannon, and children John R. Hyre, Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, Michael Hyre of Buckhannon, Deborah Brannaka of Indianapolis, Ind., Kelly Hyre of Buckhannon; 4 brothers, James G. Warner, Edward E. Warner, and Leroy A. Warner of Buckhannon and William T. Warner of Alta Vista, Virginia; 5 grandchildren, Whitney R. Hyre, Lucas J. Hyre, and Brock A. Hyre of Buckhannon and Aaron M. Brannaka and Hannah N. Brannaka of Indianapolis; and great grandson Gavin A. Brannaka. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia Rhodes and Mary Katherine Tenney and 1 brother Albert Ray Warner, Jr.. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday October 8, 2010 from 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Lowther. Burial will follow in the Hampton Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Online Condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
