Charles Irvin Presar
Charles Irvin Presar, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born January 25, 1932 in Gary, IN, a son of the late Irvin Emil and Alma Marie Kellermeyer Presar. On October 12, 1962 he married Sandra E. Hablitzel who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Craig Presar and wife LeAnn and Jeremy Presar all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Stephanie Polk and husband David of Chardon, OH and Jennifer Presar of Carbondale, IL; three grandsons, Tyris Johnson of CT, Tyler Polk of Chardon and Charlie D. Presar of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Meg Presar of Buckhannon and Maggie Polk of Chardon; one sister, Marieanne Coil and husband Neal of Muncie, IN and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Presar was a professor at WVWC from 1967 to 1990 and was Director of Theatre. He was awarded the status of Professor Emeritus on his retirement. He then worked as a professional actor, mainly in Pittsburgh, PA and Roanoke, VA. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. He was a founding member of Upshur Arts Alliance. His son Craig said, “He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, educator, mentor, performing artist, director, role model, gentleman, gentle man and occasional Voice of God”. A former student Dennis Hoffman said, “This fine, fine man. This friend, this mentor, this gifted actor and faithful Christian. Great sadness overcomes us as we remember our dear friend and college professor, Charles I. Presar. Our grief is tempered, in faith, by the promise in which we all abide”. Memorial services will be held at Wesley Chapel, WV Wesleyn College. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Upshur Art Alliance, Inc. PO Box 395 Buckhannon, WV 26201.
