Goldie Ruth McCartney Chapman
Goldie Ruth McCartney Chapman, age 93, of Hodgesville, WV died Monday, March 7, 2016 at her home. She was born March 31, 1922 in Cherry Fork, WV a daughter of the late William Clarence and Sarah Edna Elizabeth Forinash McCartney. On October 26, 1941 she married Clyde Columbus Chapman who preceded her in death on July 7, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Norman Eugene Chapman; two daughters-in-law, Wanda and Mary Chapman; one son-in-law, Donald D. Reed, Sr.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six brothers and five sisters. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Rose Reed of Tallmansville, WV, Flora Ruth Tharp and husband Eugene of Buckhannon, Karen M. Heater and husband Andy of Hodgesville, WV, Della Chapman of Hodgesville and Geraldine M. Young and husband Robert of Ketchikan, AK; seven sons, Clarence William Chapman and wife Linda of Hackers Creek, WV, Lawrence G. Chapman and wife Shannon of Boise, ID, Roy Rogers Chapman and Louise of French Creek, WV, Carroll Lee Chapman and wife Elouise of Hodgesville, Donald Clyde Chapman and wife Terry of Fairmont, WV, Marvin T. Chapman and wife Linsay of Adrian, WV and James A. Chapman and fiancée Tara of French Creek; sixty-four grandchildren; one hundred twelve great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Flora Westfall of Nutter Fort, WV and Rosa Lea Tenney of Huntington, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Buckhannon. Friends will be received Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 5-9 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Monday at the church with Bishop Steven Linger officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery at Sago, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to help with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
