Flowretta Carter Visitation Monday, March 16, 2015 5-8 PM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 10-11 AM Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Funeral Service Tuesday, March 17, 2015 11 AM Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home Burial Baptist Cemetery Flowretta Carter Flowretta Carter, 95, of Buckhannon, WV, ascended into the heavens peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. Flowretta was born in Buckhannon WV on March 29, 1919 to James and Marjorie Carter. A graduate of Victoria High School, she worked at West Virginia Wesleyan College before joining then Governor Jay and Sharon Rockefeller as a caretaker for their children for many years. After the Rockefeller children were grown, Flowretta became an integral part of the Tom and Charlotte Lane family of Charleston, WV, loving caring for their daughter Anhatton. A faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon, Flowretta was also a member of the Methodist Women and very much enjoyed her circle club. Flowretta’s passion was all things family. She is survived by sons Jay-J and wife Janice Carter of Parkersburg, WV and Jerry D. Carter of Buckhannon, with whom she made her home; a special nephew, whom she thought of as a son, Steven H. Carter of Morgantown, WV and niece Mary Louise Carter of Washington, DC. She is also survived by granddaughter Michele Foster of Sonoma, CA and grandsons Nic Carter of Tampa, FL and Tone’ Carter of New Kensington, PA; great-grandchildren Kiara Miles of Sonoma, CA, Camille and Nya Foster also of Sonoma, CA and Zakia, Ashley, Denzel and Jason Carter of New Kensington, PA. Friends will be received Monday, March 16, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 10 -11 AM the funeral hour with the Rev. Steve Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
