Joseph Lamar Coker Joseph Lamar Coker Joseph Lamar Coker, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his home in Buckhannon. He was born May 30, 1943 in Upson Co., GA, a son of the late Clayton Mason and Lucinda Frances Watson Coker. On December 31, 1983 he married Barbara Sue Bennett who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Rachel Candis Coker of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter-in-law, Heidi Elizabeth Coker of Cookstown, NJ; one grandson, Justin Joseph Coker of Cookstown; one granddaughter, Rebecca Susan Coker of Cookstown; three brothers, James Franklin Coker and wife Sharyn of Buckhannon, Roger Lee Coker and wife Karen and Clayton Andrew Coker and wife Ann all of Thomaston, GA; one sister, Edna A. Coker of Thomaston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Lamar Coker, Jr.; one brother John Melvin Coker and one sister, Frances Lorraine Compton. Mr. Coker served three tours in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy. Joseph was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. in Thomaston and a truck driver for Clarksburg Casket Co. Friends will be received Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Simms officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hebron Memorial Cemetery in Carrolton, WV. The Upshur Co. Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the gravesite.
