Evelyn Carter Evelyn Mae Carter Evelyn Mae Carter, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Nursing Care Facility. She was born September 6, 1927, in Hinkleville, WV, a daughter of the late Mack Henry and Golda Linger Nutt. On March 28, 1948, she married Boyles Carter who survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Hayward Nutt and Mack Nutt, Jr. both of FL and Martin Dale Nutt of Warren, OH. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah and Maxine Nutt and three half brothers, George, Orval and Tracy DeNoal Nutt. Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of Tallmansville Baptist Church. She was Secretary of Pythian Sisters of the United States and Canada from 1980-1990 and was a 50 year charter member of the Tallmansville CEO’S. She was secretary for Alumni Directors until 1973 at WVWC and had worked in the Upshur County Clerk’s Office. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Saturday, July 5, 2014 from 5-8 PM with a Pythian Sisters service at 6:30 PM. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the Tallmansville Baptist Church, where she will lie in state from 1-2 PM the funeral hour, with the Rev. Wease Day and the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclaircom. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
