Jackie Lee Curtis, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV left his temporary home here on earth to go to his eternal home in heaven on Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born July 23, 1938 in Weston, WV, a son of the late Howard and Virginia Irene Lower Curtis. He is survived by his bride of 53 years, Betty (Ware) Curtis and their four children and spouses, Pam Groggs and husband Mike, Crystal Carr and husband Mark, Steve Curtis and wife Tammy and Brian Curtis and wife Kara all of Buckhannon; nine grandchildren, Patrick, Shelby, Kaitlyn, Karla, Kessa, Tucker, Katie, Tyler and Eli all of Buckhannon; three siblings, Mary Hunter of Pomeroy, OH, Anna Lough of Frenchton, WV and Roger Curtis of Weston and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Curtis enjoyed his time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman spending quality time with them in the woods, water and on the golf course. Jack always had a story to tell and turned total strangers into lifelong friends wherever he went. He was the former owner of Wares Glass Shop in Buckhannon. He had also worked as a coal miner, bus driver and at Moore Business Forms. Jack was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the American Legion and the Living Word Church of God. There will be a Memorial Service Celebration of Life at his home church, Living Word Church of God, 16 Thurman Ave. with Pastor Frank Spears officiating on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11 AM. Upshur County Honor Guard will provide Military Honors at the church. Burial will be in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon at a later date.
