Obituary of Joseph Lee Canter

untitled3 Joseph “Josey” Lee Canter A Hard working man went to Heaven on the wings of Angels. Joseph “Josey” Lee Canter, age 49, of Peeltree, WV died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. He was born May 22, 1964 in Buckhannon, a son of Betty Bowman of Buckhannon and the late Bill Bowman. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father in law, Sam Harlow. On February 22, 2003 he married Becky Harlow who survives. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by one son, Eddy Canter and wife Julia of Gould, WV; three daughters, Tammy Bolyard and husband Chris of Philippi, WV, Samantha Swisher and companion Charlie Storey of Buckhannon and Margaret Canter of Peeltree; two grandsons, Wyatt Canter of Gould and Hunter Swisher of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Elaina Swisher of Buckhannon; four brothers, Billy Bowman and wife Tina, Steven Bowman and wife Sandy and Raymond Bowman and wife Kelly all of Buckhannon and Darren Bowman of Wheeling, WV; three sisters, Shirley Bragg and husband Randy of Buckhannon, Linda Bowman of Lexington, KY and Kathy Irish of SC; several nieces and nephews and mother in law, Karen Harlow of Buckhannon. Mr. Canter worked as a farm hand on the Ward Farm in Peeltree. He loved to spend time with his family and friends. He also loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Friends will be received Monday, November 25, 2013 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Walter Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery at Hodgesville, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to help with the funeral expenses.
