James “Jim” Franklin Carson
James “Jim” Franklin Carson, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. He was born May 20, 1935 in Reedy, WV, a son of the late Lester W. and Roxie E. Cottrell Carson. On September 6, 1958 he married Kathryn Street of Buckhannon who survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, James Todd Carson and wife Beth of Buckhannon; two grandsons, James Brian and Matthew Ward Carson both of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Nancy Street of Charleston, WV; one aunt, Beulah Skaggs of Hendersonville, NC and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carson was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. In his earlier years Mr. Carson worked in road construction as a Grade Foreman. In 1991 he retired as a Coal Mine Manager for Island Creek Coal Company in Ten Mile, WV and Craigsville, WV. He loved to hunt, restore tractors and to work on the family farm. The family would like to send a special thanks to: Colonial Place in Elkins, WV, Good Samaritan in Belington, WV, Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon and all hospice care. Friends will be received Friday, October 18, 2013 from 5-8 PM and 1-2 PM Saturday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Saturday with the Rev. Helen R. Oates and the Rev. Tim Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
