untitled3 Mary Agnes Connors “Kane” Mary Agnes Connors “Kane”, age 79, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born January 31, 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late John and Mary Joyce Kane. On August 5, 1985 she married Henry L. Connors who survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Kathleen Ashley of Mission Kansas, KS, Therese Kelly and husband Michael of Jim Thorpe, PA, Mary Smith and husband Brian of Mentor, OH, Patricia Ashley and husband James Straut of Upper Saddle River , NJ and Jeanne Zimmerman and husband Alvaro Esquivel of Miami Beach, FL; two sons, William Ashley and wife Cheryl of West Caldwell, NJ and James Ashley and wife Chinatsu of Hamamatsu, Japan; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandsons; six step children; beloved sister in law, Margaret Kane and several special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John Kane. Mrs. Connor, was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a graduate from Fairley Dickenson University with a Masters in early childhood development. She was a teacher in Okinawa two years and Principal for four years for the DODDS (Department of Defense Dependents Schools) in Germany. She served as President for the Work Adjustment Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and authored the School Improvement Plan for the B-U Middle School. Friends will be received Monday, September 24, 2012 from 5 PM – 5:45 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held 6 PM Monday at the funeral home with Father Ron Nikodem as celebrant. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary.
