untitled2 Cecil E. Chipps Cecil E. Chipps, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center of Clarksburg, WV. He was born June 10, 1926 in Sutton, WV, a son of the late Belle Bickel Chipps. On October 27, 1957 he married Helen Marie Ward who preceded him in death on September 17, 2006. In addition to his mother and wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Beulah Belle, Mona Hamrick, Maze Moore, Ursel Newport and Ruby Root and two brothers, Paul and Joseph Chipps. He is survived by one son, David Chipps and wife Cathy of Buckhannon; one daughter, Debbie Sharpiro of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Kim Chipps of Lansing, MI, Kari Park and husband Joe of Charleston, WV and Brittany Shapiro of Buckhannon and one grandson, Chris Chipps of Buckhannon. Mr. Chipps was a Postal Worker for United States Postal Service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Buckhannon- Upshur High School Athletic Hall of Fame, a lifetime member of the Football Boosters Foundation and a member of the Monon Valley Beagle Club of Clarksburg. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a member of the Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and enjoyed his mornings at Hardee’s with his friends. Friends will be received Monday, July 18, 2011 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 10 AM Tuesday at the Heavner Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Godwin officiating. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
