Anna Lee Combs
Anna Lee Combs, age 88, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, January 29, 2010 at her home under the care of People’s Hospice of Clarksburg, WV. She was born June 14, 1921 in Rock Cave, WV, a daughter of the late Ira H. and Vera Phillips Mearns. On June 6, 1942 she married Robert H. Waggy who preceded her in death in 1945 and on January 6, 1947 she married Robert C. Combs who preceded her in death in 1979. In addition to her parents and 1st and 2nd husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Linn M., Hugh and Ralph W. Mearns; three sisters, Beatrice Sleeth, Mary Evelyn Mearns and Marjorie Smith; one nephew, Steve Smith and a infant great-grandson, Jarrod Ables. She is survived by two sons, David L. Waggy and wife Sue Ann of Buckhannon and Robert H. Waggy, II and wife Karen of Frenchton, WV; one daughter, Suzanne Kay “Suzi” Talbott of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Melanie Lynn Talbott who resided with Mrs. Combs, Betsy Gayle Talbott of Buckhannon and Rebecca S. Browning and husband I.B. of Morgantown, WV; two grandsons, Robert H. Waggy, III and wife Kim of Buckhannon and Michael L. Waggy of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Megan Brooke Talbott of Buckhannon; two great-grandsons, Luke Henry Waggy of Buckhannon and Jackson Robert Waggy of Buckhannon; three nieces, Julia Mays and husband Bob of Fredericksburg, TX, Ellyn Sleeth of Chandler, TX and Stephanie Leatherman and husband Delbert of Clarksburg and two nephews, Daniel and Susan Smith of Millgeville, GA and Ralph and Becky Mearns of Nutter Fort, WV. Mrs. Combs worked for Perce Ross in Ladies Wear and Mary Jane Shop as a seamstress. She was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Friends will be received Monday, February 1, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Stephen Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
