Obituary of Neil Brake

Neil Brake Neil Brake Neil Brake, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. He was born March 24, 1935 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Hugh and Ada Douglass Brake. On September 19, 1958 he married Sally Annette Hoover who survives. Also surviving are one son, Kevin Neil Brake and wife Dana of North Canton, OH; one daughter, Beth Ann Embrey and husband Larry of Scott Depot, WV; one grandson, Aaron Neil Brake of North Canton; one granddaughter, Sarah Beth Embrey of Charleston, WV; one brother, John Brake and wife Patty of Punta Gorda, FL; two sisters, Jean Sedanko of Columbus, OH and Lois Wright of Akron, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wendall, Linn and Donald “Chub” Brake and one sister, Virginia Ihle. Mr. Brake worked for WV DOH as an Equipment Supervisor and attended the Sand Run Baptist Church. Neil was a member of the Franklin Lodge #7A.F. & A.M., the Upshur County Shrine Club, the Upshur County Library Board and a past member of the Buckhannon Fire Dept. For 73 years, Mr. Brake lived on the “River Bank”. When he was on the river bank he was happy. He enjoyed the monthly lunches with his classmates from the BUHS Class of 1953. Mr. Brake loved feeding the ducks and providing bikes for local children. His life was rich with family and friends. Friends will be received Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park. The Franklin Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. will provide masonic rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
