Obituary of Wavleen Alkire

untitled1 Wavleen Rollyson Alkire Wavleen Rollyson Alkire, age 90, of French Creek, WV died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born November 10, 1919 in Clem, WV, a daughter of the late Emory and Ursula Boone Rollyson. On December 25, 1937 she married Thurman Alkire who preceded her in death on October 6, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by five sisters and six brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Reuss of French Creek and Mary Anne Jacobus and husband Bob of French Creek; two sons, Richard Alkire and wife Josie of Dayton, OH and Larry Alkire and wife Linda of French Creek; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alkire was a homemaker and a member of the Center Chapel United Methodist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a Senior companion and a foster grandparent for Upshur County. Friends will be received Friday, December 4, 2009 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dan Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Chapel Church Cemetery.
