Cecelia "Celia" Hardman Black Cecelia “Celia” Hardman Black Cecelia “Celia” Hardman Black, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She was born April 28, 1925 in Pickens, WV, a daughter of the late Ottomore and Elsie Peck Bachman. On March 8, 1946 she married John W. Hardman who preceded her in death on February 16, 1985. In addition to her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by her second husband, Owen Black; three sisters, Hester Heck, Virginia Nethken and Tressie Shiftlett and three brothers, Dennis Arnold, Joseph and Arthur Bachman. She is survived by one sister, Nellie Thorne of OH; one brother, Randolph Bachman of Brooks Hill, WV and two sisters-in-law, Lucie Miller of Charleston, WV and Getha Bachman of VA. Mrs. Black was a clerk for A & P Tea Store. She was a member of the Mt. Herman UMC and the Ladies Aid. After high school, during WWII, Cecelia worked at Glenn L. Martin in Baltimore, MD as a “Rosie the Riveter”. Cecelia had no biological children but was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Bohman officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
