George Eugene “Gene” Ball
George Eugene “Gene” Ball, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home while under the care of People’s Hospice. He was born March 15, 1933 in Rosemont, WV, a son of the late John Orville and Ruth Isma Ashby Ball. On July 6, 1988 he married Linda Beer who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Jeff Ball and wife Janice, Carlton Ball and wife Stacey, Tim Ball and wife Joyce, Scott Ball and wife Coachie and Pat Ball and wife Becky all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Debra Rolenson and husband Chico of Buckhannon; one step son, Patrick Conway and wife Carla of Buckhannon; two step daughters, Becky Newcome and husband Donald and Lisa Wilson and husband Dave all of Buckhannon; seven grandsons, Cheli Rolenson and wife Amanda of Lewisburg, WV, Carlos Rolenson and wife Casey, Jeff Ball and wife Paula, Joseph Ball and wife Misty, Carlton Ball and wife Ashley, Michael Ball and wife Amanda and Patrick Ball all of Buckhannon; seven granddaughters, Tonya Ball and husband Rusty, Jennifer Bosley and husband Dustin, Jackie Fisher and husband Nick, Tanya Ball, Amber DeGoff and husband Joe and Ashley Ball all of Buckhannon and Brandi Price and husband Ben of Belington, WV; four step grandsons, Chad and Jim Newcome, Davey Wilson and Dana Conway and wife Amber all of Buckhannon; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ed Ball of Flemington, WV and Carl Ball of Buckhannon; one sister, Wilma Suter of Bridgeport, WV; several nieces and nephews and friend, Howard Blum of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, John, Bud and Ronald Ball and four sisters, Edith Snyder, Mary Nixon, Betty Sandy and Lillian Wright. Mr. Ball was a coal miner for Beth Energy. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. “Gene” will be missed by his loving family and beloved dog Barkley. He loved playing and singing Gospel and Country Music. “Gene” loved all animals and could light up a room with his smile. Friends will be received Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the Kesling Mill Cemetery at Kesling Mill, WV. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the People’s Hospice 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
