Willard O. Baxa, Jr. (Jack)
Jack was born in Nutter Fort, West Virginia on July 28, 1934. He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and West Virginia University. He served 8 years in the Army National Guard as a Sargent 1st Class and Tank Commander in the 197th Tank Battalion in Buckhannon, WV. He began his teaching career in West Virginia before moving to New York. In New York, he attended Geneseo State College. He taught in the Rush Henrietta School District for 23 years. He also served as Director of the Henrietta Auxiliary Police and worked with them for more than 20 years. Jack was a member of the Masons, Rochester, NY chapter. He was a loving husband, father and an inspiration to all who knew him. Jack joined the Lord after a brief illness on April 29, 2014. Jack was preceded by his loving wife of 56 years, Elouise (Sue) St. Clair Baxa. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy (Gene) Anthony; Artis (Warren) Sprout; Linda Smuder; brother Allen (Terri) Baxa; sister in law Venita St Clair; his children Jacqueline (Don) Rowlands; Sandra (Mike) Altamura; Sally (John) Siegl; Sharon Alvarez (Dale Patterson); Willard (Bill) Baxa III (Josephine); his grandchildren Bryan (Shannon) Rowlands; ; Nicholas (Maria) Siegl; Richard (Julie) Rowlands; Jennifer Maul; Shivaun Siegl; Stephanie Patterson; Brandon Maul; Leslie Alvarez; Todd Altamura; Jessica (George) Davis; Jerry Patterson; Chelsie Altamura; Kaylee Maul (Brian Meisch); Katherine (Marco) Marquez; Sarrah Alvarez (Chase Presley); Willard (Will) Baxa IV; and 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, May 9, 2014 from 6:30 – 8:30 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery with the Upshur County Honor Guard providing Military Honors at the graveside.
