Archie Dale White
Archie Dale White, age 94, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, June 8, 2015 at his home. He was born April 7, 1921 in Peel Tree, WV, a son of the late Avril Ray and Ethel Cutright White. On July 25, 1938 he married Alice Deeds Queen who preceded him in death on July 2, 2005. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his children Bernard and Shelia White; three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by one son, Stephen M. White and wife Ruth of Grafton, WV; one daughter, Cindy R. Gooden and husband Darrel of Buckhannon; nephew, Kenneth D. Rice (whom he raised) and wife Debbie of Buckhannon; seven grandchildren; seven-teen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Izabell Nutter of Elkins, WV, Izola Marple of Buckhannon, Minitta Lewis and husband Wayne of Lost Creek, WV and Shirley Ann Helmick of Blairesville, GA; one brother, Curtis White and wife Thelma of Volga, WV and a sister in law, Ginny White of Buckhannon. Mr. White served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a carpenter and farmer. Archie was a member of the Mt. Hermon UMC, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local # 476 in Clarksburg, WV and the WV Farm Bureau. For over 30 years Archie never missed church on Sunday. He was an active participant at the Senior Center. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack M. Bohman officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mt. Hermon UMC c/o Susie Campbell 42 Aphem Drive Buckhannon, WV 26201.
