He was born June 21, 1931 in Huntington, NY, a son of the late Herbert Welsh Evans and Mabel Mary Christena Moser Poinsett. On August 23, 1958 he married Doris Jean Post who preceded him in death on September 11, 2005. He is survived by his partner, Goldie Pavay of Bethesda; a sister, June Blum; many nieces and nephews. Ben was a brother-in-law of Bob and Peggy Post of Buckhannon. Mr. Poinsett was an electrical engineer and served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Friends will be received from 10-11 AM, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11 AM at Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon, WV. Frank B. Bartlett Post #7, American Legion, Buckhannon VFW Post #3663 and Chapters 5 & 36 DAV will conduct military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name and call sign K3BP W1AW c/o American Radio Relay League, 225 Main St., Newington, CT 06111. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
