Aubry Angell Wilson
Aubry Angell Wilson, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was the son of the late Mardis Glenn and Velma Pearl Wilson. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Margaret Wass Wilson. Also surviving are a daughter, Theresa A. Wilson of Pittsburgh, PA; two sons, David Allen Wilson and wife Barbette Shannon Wilson of Fairmont, WV, and Daniel Schley Wilson and wife Sarah Young Wilson of Morgantown; grandchildren, [Cameron Hefner, Casey Hefner, Cayla Hefner, Liam Conner Wilson, Aryanna Brie Wilson all of Fairmont] grandchildren, {Duncan Schley Wilson, and Brigid Ann Wilson both of Morgantown]; three sisters, JoAnn Appling of Ocala, FL, Anita Mason of Lexington, KY and Janis Merrill of Ft. Collins, CO; one brother, Eugene Wilson of New City, NY/ Washington, DC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Wilson and Mary Leist, and two brothers, Mardis Glenn Wilson, Jr. and James Audis Wilson. Mr. Wilson attended Upshur County Schools and was a graduate of WVU with degrees in Horticulture and Masters of Extension Education. He served in the US Army Signal Corps and was stationed overseas in Germany. He began his professional career as the 4-H Club Agent for Ritchie County, WV. He subsequently taught horticulture at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh, PA and Vocational Tech School in New Brunswick, NJ. He assisted the Allegheny Park System with the design of several parks as well as developed the horticulture curriculum taught nationally at vocational tech schools. In 1980 Mr. Wilson returned to Buckhannon to start Central WV Nursery. Mr. Wilson was an active member of the various communities in which he lived. He was president of JayCee’s in Harrisville, county chairman of March Of Dimes in Ritchie County, and president of Buckhannon Lions Club. He has been a member of Lions International for fifty years. He is active in the Upshur County Farmer’s Market and holds the honor of being selected Strawberry King twice. Additionally he was a member of Alpha Gamma Ro Fraternity and a WV 4-H All Star. He was a member of the Upshur County Farm Bureau, Buckhannon Chamber of Commerce, and WV Nurseryman’s Association. He had recently been elected to the Upshur County School Board. Mr. Wilson was active in politics and the Republican Party. He was very active with the Methodist Church in which he has served as a lay leader at the First United Methodist Church. He was also active with Methodist Men’s program and frequently attended services at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and Rock Cave United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 4-9 PM. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Meadows and the Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Harrisville, WV. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters # 5 and # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
