Letcher Allen Tenney, Sr.
Letcher Allen Tenney, Sr., age 77, of French Creek, WV died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at his home. He was born December 20, 1936 in Hemlock, WV, a son of the late Murl and Lydia Currence Tenney. On July 14, 1963 he married Dorothy “Dot” Bishop who survives. Also surviving are one son, Letcher Allen Tenney Jr. of Bristol, TN; two daughters, Laurie Evans and husband Randy of Blackstone, VA and Mary Carol Tenney of Kill Devil Hills, NC; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother; Clayton Tenney of VA; five sisters, Rella Arbogast and husband Willie of WV, Flossie “Babe” Lauderback of OH, Crissie Wamsley of VA, June Armstrong and husband Jim of WV and Glenda Thrift and husband Bubba of VA; one sister-in-law, Leota Tenney of OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Myron and Arley Tenney and one sister, Betty Jean Zickefoose. Mr. Tenney served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was an auto mechanic. Friends will be received Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Mr. Tenney will Lie In State from 1-2 PM the funeral hour at the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church at Hemlock with Pastor Holly J. Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at Hemlock. The Upshur Co. Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
