Obituary of Wilda F. Slaughter

Wilda F. Slaughter Wilda Fern Slaughter Wilda Fern Slaughter, age 90, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. She was born August 10, 1925 in Cubana, WV, a daughter of the late Herbert and Hazel Simmons Poling. On April 21, 1946 she married William Harold Slaughter who preceded her in death on June 23, 1987. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilmer, Howard, Elmer and Rev. Robert Poling and one sister, Kathleen Bailey. She is survived by two sons, Alan Slaughter and wife Sarah Jane of North Myrtle Beach, SC and David Slaughter and wife Helen Suzanne of Murrieta, CA; one daughter, Tracey Williams and husband Mike of Buckhannon; five grandsons, Barrett Slaughter and wife Kime of Myrtle Beach, Cam Slaughter of Charlotte, NC, Jeffrey and Joseph Almanza both of Temecula, CA, Matthew Slaughter of Santa Fe, NM; four granddaughters, Brandy Slaughter of Oak Harbor, WA, Jennifer Almanza of Riverside, CA, Kelly Hubbard and husband Derek of Murrieta and Julie Williams of Buckhannon; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence Poling of Warren, OH, Arden Poling of Akron, OH and Archie Poling of Buckhannon; two sisters, Lucille Gillespie of Niles, OH and Freeda Murphy of Morgantown, WV and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Slaughter was a member of the Lorentz UMC and the Lorentz CEO’S. The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon. Friends will be received Wednesday, November 4, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobbie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery at Lorentz, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Lorentz UMC.
