Dorothy Shaw Dorothy May "Dottie" Shaw Dorothy May “Dottie” Shaw (née Hinkle) died unexpectedly at Consulate Nursing Home on Thursday, November 20, 2014 in North Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 95. Dorothy is survived by her only daughter, Donna Erlene Arnett (Keith Arnett) of North Fort Myers, Florida; grandchildren: Kimberly Arnett (Walt Gassaway), Kevin Arnett and Kerry Arnett; great-grandchildren: Dustin McIntosh and Jeremy Arnett; and, great-great grandson: Noah McIntosh. She is preceded in death by her husband: Blen Cranston Shaw; her sister: Elizabeth Pauline Huffman; and, her twin brother: Donald Ray Hinkle. Dorothy Shaw was born on October 28, 1919 in Akron, Ohio to Leslie Hinkle and Elsie Rose (Jackson) Hinkle. She graduated from Akron High School in 1937. She was married to Blen C. Shaw, her first sweetheart on April 29, 1938. After leaving Akron, the couple moved to Buckhannon, West Virginia. The family eventually moved to Fairview when Blen was hired by the coal mines. Dorothy worked at the West Virginia University in the late 60’s as a secretary. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Jakes Run, West Virginia. A small private ceremony is scheduled in Fort Myers, Florida prior to shipping the remains for burial in the Heavner Cemetery, Buckhannon, West Virginia. A small graveside service will be held 2 PM Friday, November 28, 2014 at the Heavner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Mrs. Shaw’s name to your favorite charity. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
