Charles Shaffer Graveside Service Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2 PM Heavner Cemetery Charles Raymond Shaffer Charles Raymond Shaffer, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, November 1, 2014 at his home. He was born March 29, 1927 in Rupert, WV a son of the late Charles Henry and Constance Laura Black Shaffer. On April 17, 1949 he married Vivian Yvonne Rogers who preceded him in death on April 20, 1996. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Lowman and Neille Foster. Surviving are three daughters, Charlene Dean and husband Brian of Buckhannon, Laura Davis and husband Robin of Beverly, WV and Gloria Shaffer of Elkins, WV; two sons, Mark Steven Shaffer and wife Marvalee of Yucaipa, CA and Charles Roger “Chad” Shaffer and wife Kathy of Kenova, WV; fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren. Mr. Shaffer served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Charles was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church and the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM. He was a retired math teacher for the Upshur Co. Board of Education. He served in the WV House of Delegates for 18 consecutive years and also served on the Upshur Co. Commission. Charlie would say that with Jesus you have everything and without Him you have nothing. A graveside service will be held 2 PM on Monday, November 3, 2014 at the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. The Upshur Co. Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers Charlie would like you to make donations to your local church.
