Obituary of Pauline Lola Haymond Slaughter

Pauline Slaughter Pauline Lola Haymond Slaughter June 16, 1926—May 25, 2014 A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Pauline Slaughter, 87, departed this life for her heavenly home Sunday, May 25, 2014, after an extended illness. She was born in Newlin, WV, to Creed and Setta Bragg Haymond. Pauline was married to Joey Dale Slaughter for over 50 years. She is survived by son, Bill Slaughter(Roxanna) of Graham, NC; daughter, Vickie Johnson(Tom) of Burlington, NC; sisters, Lula Mae Powers-Ware and Kathleen Rice(Ralph) of Buckhannon, WV, and Rosie Hart of Appamattox, VA.; 7 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Bill, and Jason Slaughter of Buckhannon, WV, Joey(Julie) Slaughter of Louisville, KY, Greg Johnson(Cathy), Yvonne Underwood(Jamey), Monica Davis(Boyce) of Graham, NC; 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Pauline was preceded in death by sisters, Iris Lee, JoAnn Marsh, Norma Jean Nicholson, and brother, Junior Haymond. Friends will be received Thursday, May 29, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon, WV. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday at the funeral home with Calvin McCutcheon officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
