Nicholas A. “Mr. Nick” Smith, Sr.
Nicholas A. "Mr. Nick" Smith Sr., 62, died April 14, 2014 at his home in Akron, OH after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Buckhannon, WV, a son of Morris A., who preceded him in death and Bessie Butcher Smith who survives. Also surviving are his children, Nicholas Smith, Jr. and wife Cassandra, Tabetha Kridler and husband John, Catherine "Nichole" Smith and husband Michael and Shawn Smith and wife Kristin; 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; and faithful companion, Elvis. Nick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 12 Noon to 2 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Church Cemetery in French Creek, WV, where the Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
