Obituary of Edward F. Summerfield

Edward F. Summerfield Edward F. Summerfield Edward F. Summerfield, age 79, of Clarksburg, WV died Sunday, February 9, 2014 at WV Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV. He was born May 30, 1934 in Weston, WV, a son of the late Frank Bretz and Pauline Ethial Lipscomb Summerfield. On April 18, 1958 he married Vauna R. Robinson who preceded him in death on September 22, 2005. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Bretz “Junior” Summerfield, Jr. and Arthur William “Bud” Summerfield. He is survived by one son, Edward Alan Summerfield and wife Tricia of Boiling Springs, SC; two daughters, Amy Summerfield and fiancé Patrick Brake of Buckhannon and Alice Salmonson and husband Jim of Holly Springs, NC and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Summerfield was a Land Agent for Devonian Oil and Gas. He was a member of the Chapel Hill UMC, member of the Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM, Buckhannon Moose Lodge # 598, BPOE Lodge # 1736, Buckhannon Lions Club, The Shrines. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Operation Room Specialist. Was an Art Teacher at Manchester High in Manchester, OH from 1963 – 1974 and also coached Golf at Manchester. He was a graduate of WVWC, was a member of Theta-Chi Fraternity and also taught at WVWC a couple of summers. Friends will be received Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6-9 PM at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Helen R. Oates and the Rev. Stephen Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honor at the gravesite and the Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic Services at the gravesite.
