Obituary of John Schabinger

untitled3 J. Robert “Bob” Schabinger J. Robert “Bob” Schabinger, age 91, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home. He was born August 30, 1922 in Felton, DE, a son of the late John Harold and Eleanor Lane Spruance Schabinger. On March 11, 1950 he married Dorothy Haines who preceded him in death on March 26, 2002. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Schabinger. He is survived by one daughter, Miriam Leatherman and husband George T. of Old Fields, WV; one son, John William “Bill” Schabinger and wife LaRee of Berthoud, CO; two grandsons, Jason Riley of Charleston, WV and J. Harold “Jake” Schabinger of Berthoud; four granddaughters, Gretchen Cremann and Sarah Leatherman both of Old Fields, Casey Cantu of Johnstown, CO and Eva Hurley of Gray Court, SC; two great grandsons, Marcus Cremann of Old Fields and Ian Riley of Charleston and two great granddaughters, Emma Cremann of Old Fields and Ella Riley of Charleston. Mr. Schabinger, was a College Professor at the WV University and retired from WVU Extension Service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon, a member of the Buckhannon Lions Club, avid bridge player and weaver and he was co-owner for Phillips Dairy Plaza. A celebration of life will be held 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the WV Building Jackson Mill 4-H Camp in Weston, WV. He served in the US Army during WW II. Burial will be in the Pipe Creek Cemetery in Maryland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the J. Robert Schabinger, Santa Fund in c/o Richard D.
