Steven B. Osborn
Steven B. Osborn, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, December 24, 2011 at his home under the care of People’s Hospice from Clarksburg, WV. He was born August 29, 1919 in Gale, WV, a son of the late Robert E. and Gertrude Moss Osborn. On October 16, 1944 he married Susan Jean Moss Clark who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Suetta B. “Bonnie” Gooden and husband Frank Allen of Buckhannon; one son, Roger H. Clark of Buckhannon; twelve grandchildren; twenty great children and one on the way; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Madelene Osborn Booth of Buckhannon; one brother, Lida Junior Osborn and wife, Vadis of Warren, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robert Steven “Bob” Osborn; one sister, Alma Ruth Phillips and one brother, Guy Wilson Osborn. Mr. Osborn was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 108 AF & AM, Elkins # 35 Royal Arch Masons, American Legion Post # 29, Snake State # 14 DAV, Elkins Order of the Elks # 163 and Nay Chapel United Methodist Church. He was the owner of the Elkins Industrial Equipment Company of Elkins from which he retired in 1989. He also served in the US Army during WWII and the CCC Camp. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 27, 2011 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Basil Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside and Elkins Lodge # 108 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites.
