Obituary of Bertha V. Smith

untitled3 Bertha Virginia Riley Smith Bertha Virginia Riley Smith, age 85, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born July 24, 1927 in Bablin, WV a daughter of the late Orval and Goldie Ethel Cooper Kincaid. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard J. Smith. Surviving are two sons, Larry Riley of Hedgesville, WV and Melvin Riley of Lutz, FL; three daughters, Wilma Daugherty and husband Bill of Philippi, WV, Carolene Sheets and husband Jim of Jane Lew, WV and Lola Spangler of Buckhannon; two step sons, Howard W. Smith and wife Sandy of Buckhannon and Charles Ray Smith of WV; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Darrell Kincaid and wife Sharon of Jane Lew; three sisters, Clara Shaw and husband Rodney of Jane Lew, Marlene Bennett and husband John of McWhorter, WV, and Lolarene Bacorn and husband Bill of Cortland, OH. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one son Estel Riley, three sisters, Breatice Boggs, Zelma Smith and Carol Lee Kincaid; one brother, Gerald Kincaid and one step daughter Nellie Mae Golden. She was a homemaker and a member of AARP. She was a member of the over 50 club at Liberty Baptist Church and was an avid bowler. Friends will be received Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
