Helen “Shirley” Snider
Helen “Shirley” Snider, age 74, of French Creek, WV died Friday, May 25, 2012 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born July 23, 1937 in Baltimore, MD, a daughter of the late James Zebb and Helen Marie Kessler Waddell. On June 18, 1955 she was married to Wilbur R. “Pops” Snider, Jr. who preceded her in death on June 15, 2007. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, James Waddell; one sister, Geraldine Smith and one grandson, Nicholas Warner. She is survived by two sons, Wilbur Ray Snider, III and wife Lois and James E. Snider all of Indian Camp, WV; four daughters, Loretta Whetzel and husband Robert of Indian Camp, Deborah Warner of Buckhannon, Barbara McCartney and husband Dwayne of Gould Road, WV and Pam Williams and husband Brian of Indian Camp; one grandson, Shane Sprouse who was raised by Ma and Pops and wife Amanda of Buckhannon; sixteen other grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren and a foster sister, Dorothy Green of NC. Mrs. Snider was a homemaker and a member of Indian Camp United Methodist Church where she was the treasurer and pianist. She loved making gingerbread houses and quilting. She was a member of the Indian Camp Settlers. Friends will be received Monday, May 28, 2012 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. She will lie in state from 12-1 PM the funeral hour Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Indian Camp United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wease L. Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Camp Church Cemetery at French Creek, WV.
