untitled2 Glenda Fay Thorn Smith Glenda Fay Thorn Smith, age 64, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at her home while under the care of People’s Hospice. She was born March 29, 1947 in Wilmington, DE, a daughter of the late Ellis and Wilda Lantz Thorn. On June 29, 1964 she married George A. Smith of Buckhannon who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Cindy Westfall and husband Randy of Buckhannon, Vivian Wingfield and husband Dan of Summerville, SC and Dawn McCarthy and husband Brian of Albany, OH; four sons, Lloyd Smith and wife Celeste of Boone, NC, David Smith Buckhannon, Joe Smith and wife Katie of Richmond, VA and John Smith of Charlotte, NC; sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith is the President of the Tennerton Lions’ Club and a member of the American Legion Aux., IOOF, Mt. Washington UMC, Relay for Life and the Jaycettes and a campground host at Sherando Lake. Glenda enjoyed camping and traveling. She was a cake decorator for Kroger and Foodlion. Friends will be received Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Zickefoose officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Washington Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Relay for Life.
