Rev. Richard Dave Ogden
Rev. Richard Dave Ogden, age 68, of Buckhannon, WV died Monday, January 31, 2011 at his home. He was born July 18, 1942 in Adrian, WV, a son of the late Willis Earl and Sylvia Josie Hawkins Ogden. On December 26, 1962 he married Roselyn Ann Clark who preceded him in death on December 1, 2009. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Joseph Ogden and one sister, Martha Ogden. He is survived by one son, Richard E. Ogden and wife Lisa of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Leslie Ogden of Elkins, WV; one grandson, Matthew Ogden of Buckhannon; two sisters, Dolores Kasten of Buckhannon and LeVaughn Ward of Columbus, OH and many nieces and nephews. Rev. Ogden was the Pastor for the South Buckhannon United Methodist Charge and served in the US Army for eight years. He was a Washington, DC Police Officer for six years and was Chief of Police for Gassaway, WV and Burnsville, WV. He was a member of the Osiris Temple of Wheeling and the Upshur County Shrine Club and was a Master Mason in Parkersburg # 3 Lodge. He was a skilled carpenter and loved hunting and fishing. Friends will be received Friday, February 4, 2011 from 5-8 PM at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery at Hinkleville, WV. Franklin Lodge # 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites and the WV Army Military Honors will conduct military services at the graveside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist the family with expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
