Mary Lou Smith
Mary Lou Smith, our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and great friend, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born September 1, 1938 in Bergton, VA, a daughter of the late Waldo Barnes and Margie Dove Halterman. On July 9, 1958 she married William Hartsel Smith, Jr. who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Roger William Smith and wife Cheri of Weston, WV and Jerry Hartsel Smith and wife Monica of Berne, IN; two daughters, Karen McDavid and husband Ricky of Sinking Spring, PA and Donna Creel and husband Ronald of Luray, VA; three grandsons, Steven Creel of Hawaii, Christopher McDavid of State College, PA and Jacob Smith of Berne; five granddaughters, Tami Byron of Newport News, VA, Crystal Creel of Manassas, VA, Jamie Blomberg of Madison Heights, VA, Nicole Creel of Luray, VA and Elizabeth Smith of Berne; four great-grandsons, Gavin and Aidan Byron both of Newport News and Michael and Zachary Blomberg both of Madison Heights; one sister, Lillian Virginia Elliott of Keddysville, MD; one half sister, Wanda Estes of Daytona Beach, FL; and one half brother, Herman Halterman of Bergton, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Barnes and James Franklin Halterman. Mary was a legal secretary and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Friday, January 14, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 3 PM Saturday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church where she will lie-in-state from 2-3 PM the funeral hour with Pastor Rick Cutright officiating.
