Denzil Leonard Smith “Bubby”, age 58, of Summersville, WV died on December 12, 2024, at Davis Memorial Hospital surrounded by his children and special companion, Kathy Wetzel. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on January 18, 1966, to the late Lillian Mae Herron Smith Wilke and Denzil Wane Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brent Cameron Smith. Living with his memories are, his companion, Kathy Wetzel; two children, Amber Smith and fiancé David Casto of Queens, WV and Brooks Smith and wife Alexus of Tallmansville; five grandchildren, Mya, Alyssa, Jacen, and Eden Courtney all of Queens and Camden Smith of Tallmansville; sister, Bonnie Carpenter and husband Milton of Tallmansville; nephew, Bo Carpenter and wife Jerica and great-niece Lexi all of French Creek. Smitty earned his CDL’s and hazmat licenses at Lumberport Sanitation Department. He worked many years for Trus Joist MacMillan (Weyerhaeuser), Woody’s,  and Split Rail. “Bub”, as his family knew him, grew up in Queens and loved the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed cooking for everyone, especially his chili. He never went very far without his Copenhagen – even at the end. In honoring Mr. Smith’s wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to assist with funeral expenses. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
