James Carroll Kittle, age 100, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon. He was born December 29, 1923, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Ira and Lela Rowan Kittle. On September 26, 1942, he married Geraldine Cutright Kittle who preceded him in death on December 6, 2011. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Marie Broadwater; one daughter-in-law, Diane Kittle and one brother-in-law, Bob Cutright. He is survived by one son, William “Bill” James Kittle, Sr. of LaPlata, MD; two grandsons, Christopher James Broadwater of LaPlata and William “B.J.” Kittle, Jr and wife Lindsey of MD; three granddaughters, Anne Marie Cianciolo of LaPlata, Deanna Dorothy Dobson and husband Tony of MD and Carmela Anne Stone of MD; great grandchildren, Chelsee, Anthony, Camden, Tanner, Vincente, Marco, Sofia, Alyssa, Julie, Nicholas, Austin, Abigail, Lake, and Canon all of MD and great great-grandchildren, Lucy, Juniper, Arielle and Nova. Mr. Kittle was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps. During WWII. He was a life-long member of the V.F.W. Post # 3663, D.A.V. Chapter # 36, the Frank B. Bartlette Post # 7 American Legion, and was a member of the Upshur County Honor Guard for over 71 years. Mr. Kittle was also a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church. Friends will be received Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Buckhannon Upshur Honor Guard will conduct Military Honor at the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Post # 3663.
