Basil Fredrick Tenney, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 26, 1952, in Buckhannon, a son of the late William R. and Madaline “Wete” Hornbeck Tenney. On November 29, 1971, he married Robin Brown who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Chad Christopher Tenney and wife Lynn and Jason Michael Tenney and wife Holly all of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Madison Clem and husband Ethan; one grandson, Garrett Tenney; twin great-grandsons, Mason and Kaiden Clem; one brother, Gary Roger Tenney and wife Lynn of Ohio; five nieces, Kessa Thorpe, Kendra Wilson, Pamela Mitchell, Claudia Brown, and Christle Griffith and two nephews, David Tenney and Daniel Tenney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Tenney and Don “Joe” Tenney and one sister, Grace Hosaflook. Mr. Tenney was the head dairy clerk at Kroger and retired after 42 years, attended Nay Chapel Church, and served in the U.S. National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt, and garden. He also enjoyed bowling. In honoring Mr. Tenney’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial gathering will be held Monday, October 21, 2024, from 11 AM to 12 PM (noon) at Nay Chapel. A memorial service will be held at noon at the church with Rev. Brad Tenney officiating.
