Carolyn Joyce Shreve, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, October 4, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born December 29, 1943, in Ambridge, PA, a daughter of the late Norman G. and Florence Heater Hawkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Shreve and one brother Glenn Hawkins. Surviving are three daughters Cheryl McCord and husband Roger of Philippi, WV, Debbie South and husband Mike of Plattsmouth, NE, Terri Woods and husband Doug of Buckhannon; two sons, Robert “Bubba” Shreve and wife Melanie, of Buckhannon, Chris Shreve and wife Shalom of Bellingham, WA; 10 grandchildren, Josh McCord and wife Sally, of Omaha, NE, Tyler and Coleman Shreve of Buckhannon, Enoch and Scarlet Shreve of Bellingham, Clara and Jennifer Woods of Buckhannon, Erica Emington and husband Dave of Centreville, VA, Matthew South of Plattsmouth, Michaela Broderick and husband Chris of New Zealand; four great grandchildren, Bella and Brennan Emington, of Centreville, Birdie and Everett McCord of Omaha; four sisters, Geraldine “Jerrie” Belt of Amherst, OH, Frances Lockhart of Woodlands, TX, Kathy Abel of Delaware, OH, and Jeane Nichols of Jacksonville, NC; three sisters-in-law, JoAnn Hawkins, Jodie Moran, and Patty Bennett and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shreve attended Calvary Baptist Church and in her childhood years she grew up attending churches on Methodist charges as well as Union Mission Church in Vicksburg. She was very well known as a member of the singing “Hawkins Family”. Carolyn’s career included being an aide at the Upshur County Schools, working with Kelly Services at Moore Business Forms, Corharts, 26 years with ResCare and she babysat over 70 plus children. In honoring, Mrs. Shreve’s wishes, she will be cremated. Online Condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
