untitled1 James Orval Smith James Orval Smith, age 71, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, November 27, 2009 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, WV. He was born May 12, 1938 in Buckhannon a son of the late Fred Tomey and Reta Hardesty.On July 27, 1956 he married Rena Idell Coberly who survives. Also surviving are a son, Joseph W. Smith of Buckhannon; four daughters, Sharon Short and husband Bart of Buckhannon, Karen Belt and husband James of Buckhannon, Debbie Smith and companion Roger Hinchman of Ellamore, WV and Darlene Hall and husband Scott of Weston; three sisters, Hilda Lee, Betty Watson and Dorothy Weekley; four sisters-in-law, Ellen, Delena and Jane Smith and Lela Coberly; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and several half brothers and half sisters. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son James Alan Smith; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Harold Smith and three brothers-in-law, Denzil Lee, Herman Watson and Lee Weekley. Mr. Smith worked for Ann Lorentz & Galloway Coal and Construction Company and was a Christian by Faith. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 1, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at the Poling-St.Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. The funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Hal Hevener officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
